This humorous blog from a dog was written in part to keep the memory of Aspen alive. Sadly she passed away in the summer of 2019 and we still miss her almost every day.

Aspen was a remarkable dog who was loved deeply by her family and the employees of our business who saw her daily.

She loved to go for hikes in the Black Hills and on our great trails here in Rapid City. She had the calm, loyal, watchful personality of a Sarplaninac and true to nature was an excellent, guard dog. Although not interested in attention from passersby on a walk, she never barked or was aggressive with anyone, even dogs when she was outside of her yard. So we enjoyed many a walk in the city too. She especially loved stopping at Culver's and getting an ice cream.

Grazerie's Aspen was her registered name. We imported her from Grazerie in Canada. Louise is an excellent breeder, one of the best in North America, and she provides a lot of great information about Predator Friendly Ranching on her blog at https://predator-friendly-ranching.blogspot.com/

In the Summer of 2018 we brought Kaleo home and he and Aspen became great buddies.

In January of 2021 we drove to Montana to pick up a new Shar puppy, Nala and she is also featured here in many of the pictures and it is her on the front page.
